Excellent low cost no nonsense preparation for the unexpected. Very informative. I’ve spent most of my life in the outdoors. (Military, game warden, paramilitary contractor). Yes, I’m an old man. I thought it was better to stuff a tarp then to fold it?
One of the most basic pieces of gear is weather clothing. Carrying a down or sythetic jacket along covers cool to overnight temperatures as does chemical heaters – survuval backup gear.
Leathermans are expensive. How long are you going to be lost in the wilderness? A cheap multi-tool from Walmart will serve the purpose to pull a hot pot or coffee cup out of the fire
